Baking soda – This common kitchen ingredient has many properties which can improve oral health of a person, it is helpful in treating tooth sensitivity as well. Brush teeth with baking soda regularly after brushing them with regular toothpaste. This prevents damage to enamel and also treat swelling and receding gums. You can use baking soda as toothpowder and brush teeth with toothbrush or finger. It is one of the effective home remedies for sensitive teeth.

Garlic – This is very useful for calming pain due to tooth sensitivity. Take a fresh pod of garlic and crush it, add a pinch of black salt and apply over affected tooth it will calm pain and irritation in a short time. If you experience sensitivity in entire jaw chew 1-2 pods of garlic and swish their juice around mouth. Repeat regularly these works as effective home remedies for sensitive tooth.

Cloves – This spice has many properties like it is anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anaesthetic and anti-inflammatory, it has been used since ancient times to treat problems related to dentures. This provides few very useful home remedies for sensitive tooth as well. Take two cloves and crush them to form a powder, add one or two drops of olive oil or any other vegetable oil to form a paste like consistency. Apply this over affected tooth. Repeat this few times. You can also apply clove oil directly over affected tooth to curb irritation and sensitivity. To prevent sensitivity in entire mouth add two or three drops of clove oil to a glass of warm water and use it as mouthwash regularly twice in a day. Asafetida – This too is one of the oldest home remedies for sensitive teeth. Mix a pinch of asafoetida to a teaspoon of lemon juice, mildly heat the mixture and with the help of a cotton ball apply over affected tooth. Let it stay and repeat twice in a day regularly to cure the problem. You can also fry asafoetida with clarified butter and use it to coat the affected tooth to relieve pain and irritation. Both of these are excellent home remedies for sensitive teeth.


Guava leaves – The leaves of guava are great for improving oral health and also for treating tooth sensitivity. Take few leaves of guava and chew them for few minutes, wash leaves before using, swish the juice all around mouth and repeat this two three times in a day. These leaves are excellent home remedies for sensitive teeth. You can also boil few leaves of guava and add a teaspoon of salt to the mixture, use this mixture as a mouthwash after straining regularly. This too provides immense relief and cure tooth sensitivity.

Wheatgrass – Juice of wheatgrass supplements dense nutrients which are excellent for improving oral health and heal damages caused to tooth. Drink a glass of wheatgrass juice in the morning to alleviate problems related to dentures, this juice is also nutritious for overall health and improves strength and immune system. Fluoride mouthwash – Fluoride is very helpful in repairing damaged enamel and also for stopping recession of gums which expose nerves to foods and drinks. Rinsing mouth with a fluoride rich mouthwash after brushing teeth not only prevents damage to enamel and gums but also heal them to provide long-lasting relief. There are few specialized toothpastes as well which treat problem of tooth sensitivity very effectively. Salt and pepper – Mix salt and pepper powder in equal parts, rub teeth with the help of your finger with this mixture. Rinse off with water later, while rubbing teeth rub affected tooth few more times to alleviate pain and sensitivity. Perform this after brushing your teeth with toothpaste regularly. You can also make a paste by adding few drops of mustard oil to a teaspoon of salt; this too is excellent for improving health of gums and calming pain and sensitivity.
