Dentists suggest that use of electronic toothbrush is better than manual one as it can clear the bacteria deposition and prevent plaque more effectively. Brush regularly – One should brush teeth at least two times in a day and necessarily before going to bed. Bacteria present in mouth are most active during night and cause maximum damage during this period. By brushing before bedtime one can keep bacterial activity to minimum and prevent oral problems from occurring.

Brushing techniques – Try to reach each and every corner of mouth while brushing teeth. A short burst of brush cannot do any good, brush for at least 2 minutes and twice in a day. This is good for rinsing mouth after every meal if you do not have time for brushing teeth. Gargle and rinse mouth with a strong anti-bacterial mouthwash few times in a day to maintain oral hygiene.

Avoid frequent eating – Do not munch on snacks after every hour, this refills spaces between teeth with food particles and allows bacteria to grow. Eating at regular intervals not only adds weight but also wipe off the good effects of brushing and flossing. Avoid foods in the meals which stick and cause stains. Finish your meal – If you do not have time to brush teeth after eating meals there are certain foods which may clean your mouth if you finish your meal with these.
