Potatoes provide very useful and easy to use home remedies for sunburn. Grate two peeled potatoes, you can grate more potatoes if need to cover larger skin area. Grate them and add few drops of water to form a paste. Apply this paste as a mask over affected skin and let it stay for 20 to 30 minutes. Later wash off with plain water and repeat the remedy regularly to gain even tone of skin.

Add few drops of water to sufficient quantity of baking soda to form a paste. Apply this paste over affected skin and let it stay for 15 minutes, wash off with plain water and repeat the remedy regularly to reduce and remove sunburns. You can also use cornstarch in place of baking soda and form a paste and apply in similar way as described for baking soda. Both of these natural agents are excellent home remedies for sunburn.

Take water 250 ml in quantity and open-up four teabags of green tea and add the content to water, add 3 cups of fresh mint leaves and boil the mixture. Let the mixture boil for 10 to 15 minutes and later allow it to cool down, keep stirring the mixture so that contents mix well. When mixture is at normal temperature keep it in refrigerator and make it cold. Strain the mixture and dab a clean cloth and apply over affected part, let it stay for 10 minutes and dab again and apply, repeat till mixture remains cold and perform everyday till you get even tone of skin. Take one tablespoon of witch hazel and add to two tablespoons of water and a teaspoon of fresh aloe vera gel. Keep the mixture in a jar and stir, cover with a lid and let it infuse for 2 hours. Later add 2 cups of roughly mashed mint leaves and 2 to 4 teaspoons of baking soda to form a thick paste. Store this paste in a cold dry place in a bottle with a lid for 24 hours and later apply regularly over affected parts. This works as one of the best home remedies for sunburn.

Keep a liter of boiled milk in refrigerator or you can keep it in freezer too. In the morning if milk is frozen keep it out and when it starts melting soak a towel in it and apply over affected parts. This way milk will stay cold for longer duration and you can utilize more number of applications to gain quick relief from sunburns. This is one of the best home remedies for sunburn.

Soak three-four teabags in boiling water for few minutes, later take them out and keep them in refrigerator. When these bags are chilled apply over affected part, you can soak more teabags in number if you need to cover larger skin area. Teabags too work as potent home remedies for sunburn.


Take some lettuce leaves and add these to some water. Boil the mixture for few minutes and later allow it to cool down. Keep the mixture in refrigerator and when mixture is completely cold dip a cotton cloth and apply over affected parts. Let the cloth stay for 10 to 15 minutes and repeat the remedy everyday till you gain even tone of skin. This too is widely practiced remedies for sunburn.

Scrape out some aloe vera gel by cutting leaves and mash it to form an even paste, spread it evenly over affected part and let it stay. Repeat the remedy few times in a day and wash each time you reapply.

Application of peppermint oil over affected skin also works very well for treating sunburns. Wash the affected part with soap and water and wipe the skin dry. Apply some peppermint oil and spread it evenly over entire patch. Let the oil stay for 30 to 45 minutes and wash off with plain water. This oil has properties which diffuse melanin deposit and bring fresh skin out. Stay hydrated and avoids harsh sunrays; sunburn is also a type of burn so keeping good reserves of water in the body is the best way to avoid them from occurring.
