Boils are blisters formed by damaged hair follicle, these are painful and contain pus and have red color of surrounding skin. Boils are of two types, one involving only one hair follicle while another involving few hair follicles. When hair follicle gets damaged or there is ingrown hair and it gets infected by staphylococcus aureus bacteria present on the skin it causes pus build-up, this entice inflammatory response of the body to cause formation of blister. People suffering with disease which cause weak immune system like diabetes, renal failure etc., or those who have poor immune system are most prone to suffer with boils. Warm compresses are one of the best home remedies for boils; these curb pus formation and also relieve swelling around the infected part which allows body’s immune system to take effects. Soak a towel in warm water and wring to flush excess water out, wrap this around the affected part or press against it for 10 to 12 minutes, repeat this few times during the day and regularly till blister bursts.

Prepare a paste of turmeric and ginger. Take one or two inch long piece of ginger and crush it in a cup and add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to make a paste. Spread this paste over a clean cloth and tie as a bandage, you can also spread it on cotton and tape it over the blister. Change the bandage after every few hours, it will ripe the blister and make it burst to flush the pus and infection out quickly. This is one of the oldest home remedies for boils.

Milk too is one of the oldest home remedies for boils. Take a cup of milk and heat it to boil, add three teaspoons of salt to it and stir to dissolve the salt completely. Add some flour to form a thick paste and apply over boil, check that paste is not too hot and just bearably warm. Let the paste remain; repeat after few hour by removing the old paste with damp cloth. This will let the pus flow out quickly and wipe the infection.


You can also try milk cream as a remedy. Take a teaspoon of milk cream and add few drops of vinegar and half teaspoon of turmeric powder. Apply the paste directly over boil, bandage it to keep paste at right place or spread over cotton and tape it. This too is one of the trusted home remedies for boils which flushes pus and infection out in a short time.

Neem leaves are excellent home remedies for boils and various other skin problems. Soak 15 to 20 neem leaves in water for an hour and grind it to form a paste, apply this paste directly over boil and tie it to keep it in place, repeat few times in a day and regularly till blister opens-up. Take some castor oil and heat it a bit, apply this over boil. Castor oil too works as one of the best home remedies for boils.

Garlic also provides one of the effective home remedies for boils. Take one or two garlic cloves and heat them over a dry pan, take them off and crush them a bit to apply over boils. Make sure that garlic cloves are not too hot to burn the skin; you can let the paste stay or tie it with a bandage. Repeat twice in a day and regularly till blister starts flowing.


Add a drop of tea tree oil over a cotton ball. Tie it to the boil or tape it against it. Change the bandage after few hours and repeat till blister starts flowing. This is one of the fast-acting home remedies for boils. You can also try onion to relieve symptoms and clear boils. Slice an onion and tie it or bandage it against the boil. Let the onion stay for few hours and change the bandage later. Apply fresh onion slices twice in a day till symptoms subside. Both of these are easy to use but effective home remedies for boils.

Take some cornmeal and add to a cup of boiling water, stir the mixture till it forms a thick paste and apply directly over boil. Check that mixture is not too hot and just bearably warm. Let the paste stay for few hours, you can tie a bandage to keep it in place, repeat this remedy twice in a day and regularly till blister starts to flow. You can try another internal remedy to cure boils. Take a glass of water or milk and make it warm, add a teaspoon of turmeric powder and drink. Do not add sugar, you can add honey for taste. Drink twice in a day to cure the infection quickly. Both of these are the best home remedies for boils.
