Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH) is enlargement of prostate gland which causes troubling symptoms. Prostate gland is size of a walnut which grows rapidly between first 25 years and at a slow rate after 25 years of age. Usually prostate gland shows signs of enlargement after the age of 40 years. This gland’s job is to squeeze fluids along with sperms when male discharges during mating, due to inflammation this gland does not produce fluids in sufficient volume and if it presses urethra or urinary bladder it raises symptoms like frequent urination, burning with urine, blood in urine, thinning urine stream and delayed flow of urine stream. Decoction made by using watermelon seeds is one of the best home remedies for BPH. Take a tablespoon of watermelon seeds, add these to half liter of boiling water, let them steep in hot water for at least 20 minutes and later strain the mixture. Drink this water through the day regularly for few days. This is one of the effective home remedies for BPH.

Like watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds are also popular home remedies for BPH. Pumpkin seeds are rich sources of zinc which gets depleted in the body due to growing age, sufficient amount of zinc reduces inflammation of prostate gland and calm down symptoms of the problem as well. Consume a tablespoon of peeled pumpkin seeds everyday for few weeks regularly to gain relief from the problem.

Corn silk is another very old and effective home remedies for BPH. When corn is in season you can store its silk after drying for future use. Take silk extracted from at least 6 to 8 pieces. Take a cup of boiling water and steep it in for 20 minutes, later strain and consume the water. Repeat this remedy every alternate day for few weeks to resolve the problem and calm down its symptoms.

Flaxseeds are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids, so is fish oil, increase intake of these foods through your diet to keep prostate gland healthy and free of inflammation, You can grind flaxseeds after roasting them and use a tablespoon of powder with meals, sprinkling it over cereals, cooked vegetables or curd. You can also consume it plain if you wish. Increase intake of fish oil. Both of these are wonderful home remedies for BPH.

Take two-third tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, add few drops of saw palmetto, honey to it and consume. Repeat this three times in a day and continue for three weeks regularly. After three weeks from fourth week onwards start reducing the intake, bring it down to twice in a day for few days, later once in a day and gradually to three times in a week. This is one of the best home remedies for BPH.

Kegel exercises work as effective home remedies for BPH. Learn to squeeze and relax kegel muscles first and later perform exercises. Kegel muscles are the ones which you squeeze if you need to stop urine flow in between. Just feel those muscles in your groin by trying and stopping urine stream. Once you are aware how to squeeze these muscles try and squeeze them for few seconds and release, repeat this 4 to 5 times in each session and perform at least 3 to 4 sessions in a day. You can do this while standing or lying down anywhere. In few weeks you will see considerable relief from troubling symptoms of BPH.

Extract carrot juice 300 ml in quantity, add this to 200 ml of spinach juice to get a mixture of 500 ml, drink this mixture of vegetable juices through the day for few weeks regularly. Regular use of vegetable juices works as tremendous home remedies for BPH.

If you do not have any kidney stone problems then tomato can be of immense help for curing BPH. Just cut a tomato into slices and consume it in the morning. Do not forget to drink plenty of water during the day. You can also add raw tomato to your salad platter. Tomatoes are rich sources of lycopene which is very useful for preventing and curing prostate problems. Tomatoes work as one of the best home remedies for BPH.

Do not ignore urge to urinate even if it is stinging, sometimes urination can be frequent and painful and also in lesser volume but hit washroom each time you feel urge to do so. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking 10 to 12 glasses of water in a day. Take warm water tub baths and do not sit for long hours straight. When you sit you actually sit over prostate, long sitting hours can aggravate the symptoms, take a break in between and walk few paces to make blood flow towards pelvic region smooth. Limit coffee, tea and beverages intake and cut down on alcohol substantially, if you are using diuretics consult your doctor.
